Beginning readers will find this book very enjoyable and feel a since of accomplishment when they are able to finish the book on their own. There are also very few words on each page as well as repetitive words such as woof, meow, Biscuit, and kittens. The book uses big fount, and very simple words. This is a very good beginning to read book for students that are beginning to read. Read aloud- This book does not have any beneficial value to read it aloud because it lacks a strong storyline. It’s time for bed, but Biscuit doesn’t want to sleep Before Biscuit gets into bed he wants one more snack, one more story, one more kiss. Snuggle up at bedtime or anytime with Biscuit, the very first book about everyone's favorite little yellow puppy.

Personal Reaction- This book is really cute and I think that children who are dog lovers and cat lovers will really enjoy this book. If you do a literature circle idea with this book it will get the kids thinking a little more in depth about the book.īiscuit Wants to Play has a lexile rating of 20L this would be a good read aloud for kindergarten or first grade, and students should be able to independently read this book by beginning of first grade. After having the kids read the book have them talk amongst each other about what the book was about, and what their favorite part was. This would be a great book for beginning readers to read in a literature circle or even in partners. Get to know someone before you make that assumption. This is a very good message to relay to children because they need to know to not judge a book by its cover.

To put this into a more realistic point of view, even know you may not think you are going to like someone you still need to get to know them before you make that judgment. This book puts into perspective that even though cats and dogs are not supposed to like each other they can get along. The illustrations really help the reader connect with the innocence of Biscuit just wanting to play with the kittens. At first, they are not in a hurry to play with Biscuit, but once the kittens get into trouble Biscuit comes to their rescue. He discovers some kittens and only wants to play with them. Biscuit Wants to Play is a book about a curious young puppy with a big heart.
